A large Data Centre in London, with over 250 Analogue CCTV cameras.
Our team was given 4 days to diagnose and resolve the problems they were experiencing with numerous existing problems with a Data Centre CCTV system, including issues with their video wall, monitors not working and numerous PTZ cameras that had failed. This needed to be resolved quickly to ensure the system was fully functioning in time for the Olympics.
We began by running a series of diagnostic tests in order to scope the work needed and produce options, reach informed decisions with the client about the way forward. Our team of engineers then worked around the clock to solve the outstanding issues and make sure the Data Centre CCTV system was totally operational by the client’s deadline and to their satisfaction.
We are now working with the client to support the migration from the legacy analogue CCTV system to a full IP CCTV system.
“Sunstone came in at the eleventh hour and saved the day by working tirelessly and innovatively to diagnose the problem and develop a fix that resulted in a fully working system meeting the challenging deadline. We look forward to working with Sunstone to upgrade our security system to IP CCTV, which will have clear benefits for our operations”
Wealden Council is a district council in the south east of England. The Council has 55 District Councillors elected in its 35 wards serving a population of approximately 143,000. The Cabinet, comprising the Leader of the Council and five portfolio-holders, is responsible for the Council’s budget and policies. The Council’s Corporate Plan sets out our overall direction and priorities, supported by a range of other strategies and plans. Our success in Carrying out these plans is monitored through performance management.
Wealden Council wanted to be able to protect their new HQ, their staff and equipment through an easy-to-use secure surveillance system producing high definition images. Their new headquarters will have a high footfall, accessing a range of council services, public use computers and a swimming pool. As such, they wanted to cover key external and internal areas, including entrances, exits, reception, canteen and computer suite.
We joined the project at a late stage in the new build development, and assisted with the design and realisation of their HD CCTV system. As a result, the system had to be delivered in a short period of time and to a high standard. We installed 17 x 2mp HD cameras externally and 15 x 1mp HD CCTV cameras internally on a Mirasys platform, storing 30 days of high definition images. Working with their IT department to set up a separate secure HD CCTV network on a virtual LAN (VLAN) for authorized users only. We installed a main server into the customer’s data room, creating a password protected viewing station for utility and security staff. Full training and bespoke user guides were created and provided for all key staff. This was backed up by our telephone support and 1 year’s aintenance.
Wealden Council is very happy with the installation and subsequent performance of their new surveillance system and the support we provided.
HD CCTV system for a prestigious independent school and sports centre
The United Westminster School Foundation is an educational charity, whose object is “the provision and conduct of three schools in which the religious instruction is in accordance with the principles of the Christian faith”. The origins of the Charity go back to the sixteenth century when Lady Dacre founded Emanuel School in 1594.
Emanuel School wanted to ensure the safety and security of their site, for pupils, staff and valuable assets.
Working closely with the schools, we took a collaborative design process to understand their needs and jointly agree a solution that worked for them.
37 external and internal megapixel HD CCTV cameras were installed, returning to a high specification, dedicated networked Windows 2008 server, with NASbox in a RAID 5 configuration, and uninterruptable power supply.
This system is very robust, ensuring it will continue to record even if a hard drive were to fail or in the event of a powercut. We also factored in remote access to external gates, and made it capable of integrating multiple sites, such as the Blagdon’s sports ground, where we have installed a further 9 cameras.
“We were thoroughly satisfied with Sunstone’s performance. They were professional at all times, and we now have a high quality, high definition, and highly effective HD CCTV system that really adds value to our security”
