Society of Local Council Clerks: Larger Councils’ Conference 2013

We have recently returned from the SLCC Larger Councils’ Conference in Oxford, where we presented what Sunstone has to offer. This included providing advice and expertise around HD CCTV cameras, town centre monitoring and using wireless technologies over leasing expensive BT leased lines.

Some of the key issues raised by Larger Councils’ (this includes City and Town Councils), were:

– Poorly performing CCTV cameras (mainly analogue)
– Leasing expensive BT lines to transmit data to the monitoring centre
– Having to site CCTV cameras near the BT exchange, as opposed to where they would like
– Cheaper alternatives to PTZ cameras like the ‘Metal Mickey’

In response to these issues, we were able to fully demonstrate our HD CCTV PTZ camera and wireless solution. The camera we demonstrated is 2 megapixels, which means it delivers HD quality footage. Additionally, the camera has a 20X optical zoom and 12X digital zoom. The connected wireless units can then transmit the footage, at 150 Mbps for up to 10 miles (in simple terms, this means you can stream footage). This solution will help Councils drastically reduce costs around using BT leased lines and improve data speeds to the monitoring centre.

Over the next few weeks, we have been invited by over dozen Councils to fully demonstrate this system and provide cost saving solutions.

At Sunstone, we believe in bringing innovative and exciting solutions to the market. If you need expertise or support with your system, then get in touch.
